Research

Amar Rangan is Professor at the University of Teesside.  He runs a masters’ level module on assessment and management of shoulder disorders.  He has delivered invited lectures at national and international meetings on various topics in shoulder and elbow surgery.

His current research interests include rotator cuff disorders and shoulder injuries.  He is Chief Investigator for the ProFHER Trial on proximal humeral fractures and a Principal Investigator for the UKUFF Trial on rotator cuff repairs.  Both these trials are publicly funded national level multi-centre trials, funded by the National Institute of Health Research’s Health technology Assessment Program.

He has published articles on basic science research, shoulder injuries and management, tennis elbow, carpal tunnel syndrome and other upper limb disorders.  His research work has also been presented after peer review in several national and international meetings.
